Van Lucas - Assistant Director
Who am I?
My Name is Vanyel Lucas ( most people call me Van). For the past 6 years I have been the Assistant Director of the University of California Davis Upward Bound Program. I started as a Residential Advisor and then Tutor/Advisor for the UC Davis UB.
Why is UB Important to Me?
Upward Bound is important to me because it provides opportunity for so many students. It also allows me to ignite their flame of belief that they can do anything they put their mind to. The reason I enjoy being a part of UB is because it allows me to make a difference in students lives, and that is something I truly cherish. Seeing students that never realized they had the potential to accomplish the various things they accomplish is the fuel that keeps me going. If what I do can lift the head of one down trodden student and give them a spark of hope and a desire to want to achieve their goals, then my living will not be in vain.
What Are My Interests?
I enjoy spending quality time with family and friends they are the special people in my life. I also enjoy working with computers (check me out at RCC) and video games, singing and listening gospel music, and above all serving and praising the lord.
